Workshop -- Still life oil painting, weekend intensive, 25/26 June, 2022
Join me in this very small workshop (only four students!) in my Cairns studio for a big weekend of painting! The workshop will touch on oil painting materials, setting up for a still life and preparing surfaces, but most of our time will be spent creating a still life painting together. I will demonstrate my approach, and then give you feedback as you complete your painting. Quick workers, or more experienced painters will have the opportunity to bring their own images or still life objects to work on day 2, while the slow-and-steady learners will continue with Saturday's project. Coffee, tea and morning tea will be provided, but you are asked to BYO lunch, or purchase it from 'The Nest' cafe, which is very close by. There's a beautiful park next to the studio where we can enjoy our lunch and some fresh air between sessions. There are two prices for the workshop, so that you have the option of bringing your own paints and other materials, or having me supply them for you. There's an equipment list here and you will need everything on the list.
When: Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June, 2022
Time: 9.30am - 4.00pm both days
Where: My studio in Whitfield, Cairns
Who: This workshop is suitable for people with some painting experience. Absolute beginners may struggle.
Bring: A mug or thermos (tea and coffee provided), your own lunch, an apron or old clothes, a notebook and pen if you would like to take notes, a photo of a still life arrangement or some still life items that you would like to paint on day 2 (if you have time), all the items on the list if you are using your own materials.
Cost: $350 if you are using your own materials, and $390 if you want me to provide everything for you.
Stay: If you are coming from out of town, I can help with some accommodation suggestions close-by, supermarket trips or a bicycle to borrow. Just let me know if you have any queries. Cairns is usually beautiful in June - it's coming into our dry season, so it is at is warm, tropical best! Bring your partner and send them out to the reef to get sunburnt while you have fun at the easel. ;)
